Sandhya Theatre stampede amid Pushpa 2 premiere

Icon Star Shocked, heartbroken on Sandhya Theatre stampede

Icon Star Allu Arjun has said that he, director Sukumar and the entire team of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ were deeply saddened upon learning that a woman had died in stampede on Wednesday minutes before a premiere show of their movie. The actor assured the bereaved family of all the support in future. An immediate ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakhs would be given.

“I have always watched my movies with the audience for the past 20 years in theatre. It was no different this time. I watched it at RTC X Roads. It is unfortunate that Revathi garu passed away in the stampede at the theatre. We have been shocked by the tragedy. We couldn’t celebrate the success of our film on the release day. No matter what we do, we won’t be able to undo the loss. I will always be there for the family.

As a gesture, I am personally donating Rs 25 lakhs to the bereaved family to help them secure the future of her two kids. We are also taking care of the medical expenditure of the injured kid. We make films so that everyone enjoys them with their families. When tragic incidents like this happen, it feels like our energies have been sapped,” Allu Arjun said.

He further wrote, “Deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving family during this unimaginably difficult time. I want to assure them they are not alone in this pain and will meet the family personally. While respecting their need for space to grieve, I stand committed to extend every possible assistance to help them navigate through this challenging journey.”
