Godari Gattupaina Review: Passable Village Drama
Young hero Sumanth Prabhas is back with a rural love and family drama Godari Gattupaina. Directed by Subhash Chandra and produced by Red Puppet Productions, the film attempts to blend romance and emotions. Let’s see how far it succeeds.
Story:
Raju (Sumanth Prabhas) is an auto driver who falls in love with Maya (Nidhi Pradeep), and she too develops feelings for him. However, due to certain dramatic developments, Maya’s father (Jagapathi Babu) becomes an obstacle to their relationship. A father who dreams big for his daughter’s future, he takes a strong decision regarding Raju. How did he understand the love between the couple? is the basic story of the film.
Performances:
Sumanth Prabhas impresses not only with his performance but also with his comic timing and emotional expressions. He showcases good variations according to his character’s situations. Heroine Nidhi Pradeep also performs well. Jagapathi Babu completely fits into his role and delivers excellent timing even in serious situations. Rajeev Kanakala also does well in an important role. Laila, Deviprasad, Sudarshan, Rajkumar Kasireddy, and the rest of the cast perform convincingly in their respective roles.
Technical Aspects
Director Subhash Chandra impresses with his presentation, but the screenplay does not fully elevate the story. The background score is good, and music director Nagavamsi Krishna’s songs are decent. The cinematography is visually appealing, with several scenes captured beautifully. Editing could have been tighter, especially in reducing some dragged sequences. Producer Abhinav maintained good production values without compromise.
Analysis
The film effectively establishes the emotions of a typical father, especially that of a father raising a daughter. The pain of a father missing his daughter and the heartbreak of losing a loved one are portrayed well. The drama surrounding these emotions works effectively.
The transition of the story towards the hero and heroine’s side is engaging. The family drama, emotional moments, and Sudarshan’s comedy dialogues add extra appeal to the film.
Director Subhash Chandra designed Jagapathi Babu’s role and emotional scenes effectively but could not create an equally engaging screenplay. Some key scenes lack strong narrative impact. The second-half screenplay and character writing could have been stronger.
Though the central conflict is established well, the scenes around it needed more emotional depth. Some emotional scenes in the second half work only partially. The drama between the hero and Jagapathi Babu could have been more gripping. Even the climax lacks excitement, despite having scope for a stronger emotional payoff.
Verdict:
Godari Gattupaina works as an emotional love entertainer with a decent core theme, emotional scenes, and performances by Sumanth Prabhas and Jagapathi Babu. However, routine scenes and an inconsistent screenplay become drawbacks. Overall, only some of the film’s love and emotional elements manage to leave an impact
